Above Zagreb - Medvednica Hill

Just a short ride from the city centre, Medvednica Hill rises above Zagreb like a green guardian, offering fresh air, peaceful forests, and breathtaking views. This tour takes you away from the busy streets and into the heart of a protected nature park.

We begin with a tram ride from downtown Zagreb to the lower slopes of Medvednica, where we board the mountain cable car. The scenic ride carries us above the treetops to our first stop: the eerie, abandoned Brestovec Hospital — a long-forgotten tuberculosis sanatorium from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, wrapped in mystery, legends, and even a tragic love story.

From there, we continue to the very top of the mountain, Sljeme (1,033 m), home to the highest viewpoint. Here, you’ll enjoy a full 360° panorama stretching across Zagreb and the surrounding region.

Before returning to the city, we’ll stop for a well-deserved lunch — because no visit to Medvednica is complete without tasting some of the mountain’s best traditional dishes and drinks.
